Botox®/Dyport® for Jawline Reduction

Botox® and Dyport® are famous for their wrinkle-erasing capabilities. A lesser-known, but increasingly popular use of Botox®/Dyport® is to reduce the size and strength of the masseter muscles located at the back of the jawline. This simple, yet effective treatment can have both health and beauty benefits – oftentimes quite dramatic!

Masseter Muscles

In some people, these already strong muscles can become even stronger (and bigger) over time, often as a result of unconsciously grinding or clenching the teeth. Other patients, due to their genetics, have naturally larger masseter muscles, causing their face to be more square and wide than they would like. In either case, Botox®/Dyport® can help relax these jaw muscles, resulting in a slimmer, more oval shape to the face. Most patients will also notice a significant reduction in symptoms such as clenching, grinding, headaches, and tension in the masseter muscles.

Treatment and Results

The treatment itself is surprisingly easy. A few, small injections are placed into each masseter muscle. Within 2 weeks, most patients notice an improvement in their symptoms. By 6 weeks, the jawline slimming effects are fully visible. Results typically last 4-6 months and often longer after several treatments. We take pride in our follow-up care and ensure that proper dosages have been administered so that our patients gets the best results.

Will I lose the ability to chew or talk?

The answer is NO, as long as the non-surgical procedure is performed by a practitioner who is familiar with the facial anatomy and experienced with this particular procedure. Chewing, talking and smiling will not be compromised.
