Chemical Peels

Chemical peels help to reveal brighter, healthier, smoother skin by exfoliating the dry and damaged skin cells on the outermost layer of the skin. Peels are an excellent choice for patients wanting to even out skin tone, minimize fine lines, combat acne, and treat sun damage. Depending on the chemical peel chosen and the quantity of the solution applied, a peel can be very superficial or strong enough to penetrate more deeply into the skin.

Illumunize Peel®

The Illumunize Peel® is a medical grade chemical peel that delivers a nice “glow” to the skin immediately. This mild peel helps accelerate skin exfoliation, resulting in healthier, brighter, more radiant looking skin. It is the gentlest, most superficial SkinMedica Peel so it is great for first time chemical peel patients with mild skin imperfections or for patients that want rejuvenated skin with minimal irritation and downtime.

Key ingredients: Salicylic Acid, Mandelic Acid, Resorcinol, Malic Acid, Phytic Acid

What to expect immediately after: With the Illuminize Peel® patients should not expect to see visible peeling due to the superficial nature of this peel. There is no expected downtime and most patients leave the office looking healthy and fresh. Mild redness or discoloration may occur and can be covered with makeup.

Vitalize Peel®

The Vitalize Peel® is safe, effective, gentle, and suitable for all skin types, making it our most popular peel. It is appropriate for patients with mild-to-moderate skin imperfections that result from skin aging and sun exposure, such as fine lines and wrinkles, uneven skin tone and texture. Vitalize Peel® treatments also address skin unevenness that can be caused by acne scarring or other pigmentary changes.

Two or three days after this peel is applied, the skin starts to shed from the chin up to the forehead for a duration of about 2-4 days. The renewal process stimulates collagen production and results in healthier, younger looking skin.  If you want to peel during the weekend, we suggest receiving this peel on a Wednesday evening. A series of three to five treatments is recommended for best results.

Key ingredients: Retinol, Salicylic Acid, Lactic Acid, Resorcinol

What to expect immediately after: The Vitalize Peel® can leave a yellowish tinge on the skin which is expected to last no longer than 2-3 hours. Mild to moderate redness is expected after any type of chemical peel procedure; the extent of redness varies from patient to patient.
