Forehead Lift or Brow Lift
Forehead lift or brow lift are procedures that help rejuvenate the appearance of the face by alleviating drooping eyebrows and reducing forehead wrinkles and frown lines. In performing forehead lifts and brow lifts, Dr. David Kim hides incisions within or behind the hairline and excess skin is removed, hiding the scar. Many techniques are available depending on the patient’s anatomy and the severity of the problem. Dr. Kim prefers to use endoscopic techniques when possible, which allow for smaller incisions, shorter duration of surgery, and quicker recovery.
Brow lifts are usually recommended for people between 40-60 years old, but they can be performed on any age patient who wishes to reduce frown lines, crow’s feet or other facial wrinkles. The surgery can help those who have genetic features such as low brows or a “furrowed” looking forehead. A brow lift is also often done in addition to other surgeries such as a facelift, eyelid surgery, or dermal fillers. Dr. Kim will assist you in deciding the best options for your specific facial rejuvenation goals.
During your consultation with Dr. Kim, you will need to provide a complete medical history and explain you goals for the procedure. Dr. Kim will evaluate your forehead and eyelids paying attention to your specific muscle tone and wrinkles. Photographs will be taken of your face and brow region from multiple angles for reference. Be sure to ask any questions or address any concerns you may have about the procedure before you schedule your surgery. You may need to discontinue certain medications and alcohol consumption several weeks before surgery for your safety and to get the best results possible.
Recovery for a forehead lift procedure can take one to two days of bed rest. Most endoscopic brow lift patients can return to work within a week of surgery. You should limit intense physical activity for at least two weeks, but walking is recommended as soon as possible after surgery to reduce swelling and minimize the risk of blood clots. You may feel your facial skin is tight or swollen and minimal bruising is to be expected right after your procedure. Pain medication will be prescribed by Dr. Kim according to your forehead lift procedure type. Some patients experience temporary numbness near their scalp or incisions which can last several weeks after surgery. Dr. Kim and his staff will explain what to expect after surgery in detail and he will see you for a number of post-operative appointments to check the progress of your recovery.
